Help lines and how the desk works

Help in Lloydminster depends on which province a person lives in, so this page lists both Saskatchewan and Alberta. Further down, the Border Desk explains how it checks the facts it prints.

Help on both sides of the line

  • Saskatchewan Problem Gambling Helpline: 1-800-306-6789. Trained counsellors give free, confidential help 24 hours a day.
  • In Alberta, the Addiction Helpline (Recovery Alberta) at 1-866-332-2322 is free, confidential, open 24/7 and covers problem gambling. 211 Alberta also refers people to gambling support.
  • SIGA Voluntary Self-Exclusion, requested at any SIGA casino, bars a person from all nine Saskatchewan casinos for 6 months to 5 years. Game Break, run by SaskGaming, is a confidential self-exclusion from all Saskatchewan casinos and PlayNow.com for 6 months to 5 years.
  • AGLC's Self-Exclusion Program is enrolled online at selfexclusion.ca and covers Alberta casinos and racing entertainment centres, regulated online gaming, or both. Terms run six months, one, two or three years, start immediately and cannot be cancelled early.

A limit set before the drive

Gold Horse Casino stays open until 3 a.m. Sunday to Thursday and until 4 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. Closing time arrives late, so the clock will rarely end a visit on its own. A spending amount and a stop time are easier to settle at home, before the drive to 41st Street. Once decided, both stay fixed.

A limit covers what a person is prepared to spend. It is not a target for winning, and it is not money to be won back.

How the Border Desk works

This guide is written and signed collectively as the Border Desk. No page carries a personal byline, and the site has no named author. The facts were checked on October 10, 2026, against the casino's own pages, SIGA, Lotteries and Gaming Saskatchewan, the Government of Saskatchewan and Alberta sources. A rule is printed only with its province named, because Lloydminster sits in two.

Distances are straight lines between map points: the casino's coordinates and OpenStreetMap town points in Alberta and Saskatchewan (© OpenStreetMap contributors). The desk does not estimate driving times.

The pictures are generated scenes with no people in them, not photographs of the casino. There are no forms, comments or accounts. Nothing about readers is kept except the colour theme chosen in the open browser tab.
