Online casino rules on both sides
Gold Horse Casino at 3910 41st Street in Lloydminster is a land-based casino on the Saskatchewan side of the city. Online play follows the province a person is in, and Saskatchewan and Alberta set it up very differently.

Two provinces, two systems
Alberta: a regulated market and 18+
Alberta's regulated online gaming market launched on July 13, 2026. The Alberta iGaming Corporation (AiGC) manages it, and AGLC regulates it. An online operator must be registered with AGLC and sign an operating agreement with AiGC. The list of registered sites is at abigaming.ca.
Only players physically located in Alberta may play. That holds for a reader on the Alberta side of Lloydminster too: the rule turns on location, not home address. Play Alberta, at PlayAlberta.ca, is the province's own online gaming site, run by AGLC. The legal gambling age in Alberta is 18. Alberta casino staff must check valid government-issued photo ID for anyone who appears to be under 25.
Saskatchewan: PlayNow.com and 19+
In Saskatchewan, PlayNow.com is the only legal online gaming platform. SIGA operates it, the same organization that runs Gold Horse Casino. It launched in the province in November 2022. SIGA's online exclusivity was extended to September 2029.
Lotteries and Gaming Saskatchewan (LGS), a Crown corporation, oversees all lotteries and gaming in the province. It has held full conduct and management powers since June 1, 2023. The Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority (SLGA) is the regulator. The Alcohol and Gaming Regulation Act, 1997 defines a minor as a person under 19. Casinos and PlayNow.com are both 19+.
How this guide is paid
Lloydminster Casinos, the Border Desk, is an independent guide, not a casino. It takes no bets and has no accounts. Paid links appear on the home page only, each marked Ad. There are three of them: a button in the menu, a block below the first screen and a block near the end.
All three point to one private online casino partner for adults, which pays the guide a commission. The partner is not a provincial site of Saskatchewan or Alberta, and neither province runs, approves or licenses it. It has no connection with Gold Horse Casino or SIGA. The partner can change, and it is not named on any page.
